Second day into year 2011. And here I am sitting at my dining table creating a new blog and reflect what had happen in 2010.
2010 must be one of the most interesting year I had encounter for a long time.
Got married in Dec 2009 so I would consider 2010 as the first year of marriage.
My friends ask me how different is married life and single. To me, there is no difference. My wife actually gave me some freedom and I can do what I wanted to do. Thank you my dear for the freedom. Not much fights but for the one or two fights, sorry for all the rubbish you have been getting from me. I must admit when it come to tidiness, i am quite strict. Other then who to clean the house, I don't have much issues with my wife.
In April, a once a lifetime opportunity came about. A recruitment firm wanted to employ me. As i do not have any experience in that, and giving me a pay rise then my current pay, I decided to do a career switch. I was working in an IT firm as an application consultant. I forgo my mid-year bonus and that is a big sum of money...
After 4 months into the job, i regretted. Thankful my manager decided to get me back to the team. I also became a Team leader of my previous project.
I rejoin insurance as part-time. I had pass all the certificates that I am require to take and is contracted to an insurance company. Still not too convince that I will be doing this insurance thing for long as I does not know how to sell something that most people in singapore don't feel there is a need for it until it is too late. Trying to convince myself i am helping people so that in the event something happen, they will be well covered but I don't know... Maybe this is a problem that I will need to face in 2011.
I had done my first Investment as well. Maybe is not so much of investment but it gives pretty good returns. I doing some gold trading and the returns is 2% a month. I also had taken the license to sell this gold but I don't know how the sell. Maybe I just refer clients to my friend and get referral fee.
Seems that 2010 is quite messy for me haha...
But I did manage to do some stuff that I always wanted to do.
Achievements:
1) Diving: When to dive with my OCS buddies and got the advance open water certificate. Its nothing too difficult but going with my buddies is so fun. Always wanted to go since Sec but only this now then I had the chances to dive.
2) Roller Blading: Finally got my first pair of blades. Wanted to learn blading since sec and was always envy of people blading.
3) Assume the role of Team leader: Came back to my previous company and took over as team leader role. Never really touch programming nowadays and focus more one application design. Need to improve on my language as I need to reply emails everytime. With my standard of english, I will keep getting correct by my manager...
Aims for 2011
2011:
1) Kota Kinabaru(March)
2) Europe Trip(April -May)
3) Company setup complete(Feb)
4) Hope to get promote in both work and army(July)
5) Learn PHP(Feb)
6) Decide on the Insurance career
I guess that all for today.
